The Property
Luxury Self Catering Coastal Cottage on The Lizard Peninsula
Inside
Part of a historical property built in 1683, this refurbished coach house is set within the grounds of a former rectory named by 6th Century Breton monks. With gourmet cuisine, fine wine and fully catered amenities provided in the main house, this is self-catering with frills at your fingertips: creating the perfect retreat for young families and couples to hideaway in a beautiful location.
- Style: A small luxury holiday cottage with charming historic features enhanced by modern facilities.
- Bedrooms and Bathrooms: Two comfy bedrooms (one small double and one with bunks), both with en suites (one with a bath, the other with a shower).
- For relaxation: After a blast of briny air curl up in the comfort of your open-plan sitting room in front of the Scandinavian wood-burner, or head next door to dine on the finest West Country fare served by the in-house chef (there is baby monitor in the cottage so you can leave little ones in bed and return at a moment’s notice if they wake).
- For recreation: Take a dip in the large, heated outdoor pool (please note, the pool is shared with B&B guests staying in the main house) or pack your walking shoes and enjoy direct access to coastal walks.
- Practicalities: Additional facilities are available in the main house. Private secure parking available for 1 car.
Outside
Two acres of lush, sub-tropical gardens offer stunning views to the church steeple and the Atlantic Ocean. As well as plenty of peaceful corners where you can relax and read, there is a summerhouse, alfresco dining furniture and sun-loungers on the terrace around a large, heated pool.
Food and wine
- DIY: There is a kitchenette in the coach house, and a handful of local farm shops are nearby if you fancy stocking up on fresh Cornish produce.
- In-house cuisine: If you want to take some of the DIY out of self-catering then pre-order sumptuous breakfasts (£15 per head) and dinner banquets (£33 for 3 courses/£38 for 4 courses) served in the main house next door. The private chef conjures up culinary gems using all sorts of local produce including fish and lobster landed by local fishermen, fresh cuts of meat from the local butcher and fruit and vegetables plucked from Landewednack's gardens and farms in the area.
- Eating out: The property is just ten minutes from Trelowarren's New Yard Restaurant which sources 90% of its ingredients from within a 10-mile radius. Also on the Lizard is the historic Halzephron Inn, famous for its award-winning Cornish cuisine (wwww.halzephron-inn.co.uk).
Getting there:
